What is menopause?

Menopause occurs in women after they have gone twelve months without a menstrual cycle. It is a natural part of aging and typically occurs in your late 40's or early 50's.

Menopause is different for everyone, but common symptoms include:

  • Mood changes and irritability
  • Weight gain
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Hot flashes or night sweats
  • Sleep problems or insomnia
  • Brain fog
  • Anxiety or depression
  • Increased urinary tract infections

For some women these symptoms are mild, while for others they can be more severe and affect their daily life.

How we help you during menopause

You can schedule a visit with any gynecology provider to discuss your menopause symptoms and any concerns you have. Please note that this visit would be a separate visit from, or in addition to, your annual wellness visit to allow for enough time to address your menopause concerns. Your provider will discuss symptom management options with you and put together a personalized care plan.

Your personalized menopause care

We can help you manage menopausal symptoms and related health concerns that cannot be fully addressed by your primary care provider. We use many methods to manage your menopause symptoms, including:

  • Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT)
  • Vaginal creams
  • Non-hormonal therapies
  • Lifestyle changes
  • Testosterone therapy

Complex menopause care

If you are not responding to treatment for your menopause symptoms, experiencing new symptoms or want a second opinion, our complex menopause specialists at Stony Point 9105 can help. During your appointment, you will focus solely on your menopause symptoms, including past treatment and any complications. From there, we’ll create a personalized plan that meets your needs and goals.
