Paying your medical bills

We’re glad you’ve chosen our team at VCU Health for your care. Remember to bring photo identification and your current insurance cards to every appointment. We will ask you to confirm your address, phone number, insurance plan and other personal information at each appointment to make sure your account is up-to-date. If you have Medicare insurance, we are required to ask you a few questions about your retirement date and other insurance plans to find out if Medicare or another plan should be billed first.

Cash, check and most major credit cards are accepted for payment. Please ask for a receipt if one is not offered to you.

New billing system effective December 4, 2021

VCU Health is moving to a new billing system effective December 4, 2021. You may continue to receive statements from PatientCo or you may receive the new billing statement from Epic MyChart. Statements are dependent upon your date of service.

Clear billing statements and online payment options

Sample Patientco bill

We've partnered with Patientco to provide you with simple, convenient methods to pay and manage your health care expenses. Patientco features straightforward billing statements with easy-to-follow summaries and online payment options. All of this will make it easier for you to track, manage and pay your health care expenses.

Your billing statements

You may receive two billing statements for services received at VCU Health:

  • A bill from VCU Health VCU Medical Center (formerly MCV Hospitals) for radiology, laboratory or pharmacy services
  • A bill from VCU Health MCV Physicians for services provided by your physician, such as an office visit or interpreting test results

If you are billed for both the physician practice plan and the medical center, your insurance plan may require you to pay two separate copays, coinsurance and deductible amounts.

COVID-19 Updates

Your COVID-19-related appointment, whether in person, virtual or a diagnostic COVID-19 test, will be covered by insurance. For visits unrelated to COVID-19, you may be responsible for a copay, coinsurance or deductible. Your out-of-pocket cost depends on your insurance plan. Please check with your insurance provider for details.
