Government-Assisted Health Insurance Coverage

We want everyone to have access to high quality, low-cost care by getting coverage through a government-assisted program that best fits your needs. Our responsibility to provide care for all people in Virginia starts before you set foot in any VCU Health facility. It begins with helping you get the health insurance coverage that is right for you.

Medicaid Expansion

The rules have changed. If you applied for Medicaid in the past and were denied, you may now be eligible. The VCU Health System team takes care of more un- or underinsured patients than any other health system in Virginia. As such, we know what Medicaid expansion means to our patients. We are committed to helping every patient who may qualify under the expansion to sign up for affordable, high-quality health care. Learn how to sign up for Medicaid expansion at CoverVA.org. Click here for Frequently Asked Questions about Medicaid Expansion.

Medicare Advantage

VCU Health doctors, hospitals and other health care providers participate with most Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans offered by major insurers, including plans offered by Aetna, United Healthcare, Anthem, Humana and Virginia Premier. Affordable Care Act Federal Exchange
