College Student Volunteer Program

At the beginning of each semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer) we welcome students from various colleges and universities. Undergraduate, graduate, or non-traditional students can become involved in many ways at VCU Health. To successfully apply to volunteer, you must begin working on the requirements before the semester begins. We expect a weekly commitment of at least two consecutive hours (excluding official university breaks and holidays) for the entire semester—this is approximately 20 hours of service. We encourage volunteers to participate for multiple semesters. Letters of reference will only be provided to volunteers who have served 40 hours or more (a record of hours can be provided at any time).

Summer Semester 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all VCU Health volunteer programs have been suspended, meaning no volunteers are allowed in any of our facilities.  We do not know when these restrictions will be lifted.

We will not accept any new volunteers for Summer 2020.  If you are interested in beginning to volunteer during Fall Semester 2020, we encourage you to check back for information.  Application instructions and materials for Fall are generally posted in July, but we cannot guarantee that will be the case this year. Once we determine when volunteers will be allowed in the environment and if there will be any changes to requirements for new volunteers, updated information will be posted here.

We appreciate your patience and your understanding during these uncertain times.  VCU Health will continue to do everything we can to protect each other and our entire community, and to care for those who need us.  We encourage you to do everything you can to stay safe and well and to help stop the spread of COVID-19!  If you are still interested in becoming a volunteer in future, please continue to check this site for updates.
