College Student Volunteer Program
Traditionally, we welcome students from various colleges and universities at the beginning of each semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Undergraduate, graduate, or non-traditional students can become involved in many ways at VCU Health. To successfully apply to volunteer, you must begin working on the requirements before the semester begins. We expect a weekly commitment of at least two consecutive hours (excluding official university breaks and holidays) for the entire semester. We encourage volunteers to participate for multiple semesters. Letters of reference will only be provided to volunteers who have served 40 hours or more (a record of hours can be provided at any time).
The deadline for applying to volunteer during Fall Semester 2023 has passed.
If you are interested in applying to volunteer during the Spring 2024 Semester, check this site in early December for materials and instructions. Application materials and instructions will be posted when they are ready. Please do not call or email the office to ask exactly which day they will be posted.
Before continuing, ensure you understand:
- Most volunteer opportunities are in downtown Richmond during weekday, daytime hours
- Health screening, registration, criminal history checks and orientation are all required to participate
- You must have a Social Security Number in order to volunteer
- You must have a valid, government-issued ID, such as Driver’s License or Passport
- COVID vaccine(s) are mandatory and proof will be required; proof of current Flu vaccine will be required
