Billing and Insurance

We’re glad you’ve chosen our team at VCU Health for your care. Remember to bring photo identification and your current insurance cards to every appointment.

We will ask you to confirm your address, phone number, insurance plan and other personal information at each appointment to make sure your account is up-to-date. If you have Medicare insurance, we are required to ask you a few questions about your retirement date and other insurance plans to find out if Medicare or another plan should be billed first.

Your billing statements

You may receive two billing statements for services received at VCU Health:

  • A bill from VCU Health VCU Medical Center (formerly MCV Hospitals) for radiology, laboratory or pharmacy services
  • A bill from VCU Health MCV Physicians for services provided by your physician, such as an office visit or interpreting test results

If you are billed for both the physician practice plan and the medical center, your insurance plan may require you to pay two separate copays, coinsurance and deductible amounts.

Paying your medical bills

Cash, check and most major credit cards are accepted for payment. Please ask for a receipt if one is not offered to you. To pay your bill online:

We’ve partnered with ClearBalance® to offer an affordable, no-interest loan program with flexible repayment terms to help you pay out-of-pocket medical expenses, deductibles and insurance copayments. The ClearBalance program* features reasonable, flexible repayment terms.
