Consultations

Taking the time to ensure you get the best of care.

Call us at (804) 828- 2600 to set-up your consultation.

Whether you’re referred to us by your doctor or want to talk with us directly about your concerns and needs, our physicians are always available for consultation appointments to listen, learn and talk about your condition and what we can do to help. Open and clear communication with your doctor and you is a crucial aspect of providing proper treatment and care. We work as a team.

Before your appointment, take a few steps in advance to make sure we have the best background information (see below). During your consultation, we’ll talk through your concerns, review your medical history and make an assessment of your current situation. Once we make our diagnosis, we discuss different options to develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. We make sure you understand every aspect of your care.

Preparing for your consultation

The sooner we have the information we need to evaluate your situation, the sooner we can arrive at the right treatment plan for you. You can help by gathering information before your appointment.

  • Write down any symptoms you’re experiencing, even if they seem unrelated to your condition.
  • Write down key personal information, including a family history.
  • List all medications you take, including over-the counter drugs, vitamins and supplements.
  • Write down questions you want to ask the doctor. Here are some examples:
    • What is probably causing my symptoms?
    • Are there other possible causes?
    • What kinds of tests will I need?
    • What are the benefits and risks of the tests of the treatment plan?
    • Are there alternative approaches?
    • Are there any diet or activity restrictions?
    • What do the tests and the treatments cost?
    • Does insurance usually cover my condition? (You will need to ask your insurance provider for specific information about coverage.)

Where can I find more information about my condition and treatment?
