About us
We offer comprehensive and advanced clinical care through a highly integrated, multidisciplinary approach. This means a top-tier team of medical professionals, including neurologists, mid-level practitioners, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, social workers, genetic counselors, and physical, occupational, and speech-language therapists, are all working together to support our patients. This team also provides exceptional education and outreach while training the next generation of movement disorders specialists.
We aim to be a leading example in enhancing the lives of individuals with movement disorders, their families, and the community. Our groundbreaking research transforms laboratory discoveries into innovative treatments that benefit patients in real-world settings.
We are now one of just 40 centers in the U.S. and 54 worldwide recognized by the Parkinson's Foundation as a Center of Excellence. In Virginia, we’re the only one to hold this prestigious designation. We’re also recognized as centers of excellence by the following organizations:
- Mission MSA Center of Excellence
- Huntington’s Disease Society of America Center of Excellence
- CurePSP Center of Care
- Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) Research Center of Excellence
Sub-specialty care in one location
We offer an interdisciplinary, or team-based evaluation which allows patients to access sub-specialty care providers in one location. This evaluation will include assessments by neurology, clinical neuropsychology, neurosurgery, physical therapy and speech therapy that will result in a comprehensive treatment plan to address each individual's needs. This treatment plan will be shared with other healthcare providers managing a patient's care.
