Audiology Externship

The Virginia Commonwealth University Audiology Program has a 12-month rotating AuD externship beginning June 1 through the following May 30. There is currently no stipend available for this placement.

Students accepted into this externship position can expect in-depth experiences in diagnostic audiology for pediatrics through adults, amplification, cochlear implant evaluation and mapping, evoked potentials (OR and in-office) and vestibular evaluation, Craniofacial Clinic, as well as inpatient monitoring of ototoxicity and hearing function.

Initial contact with VCU Audiology should come from a designated university official on behalf of interested students. All negotiations will occur between the university and VCU Health System.

Following initial contacts, applications will be accepted during the fall of each year for placement in June of the following year. Applications must be received by September 15th. Applicants will be notified of decisions by November 1st.

Applications consist of (and must include) a letter of interest from the student, a resume and two letters of recommendation from clinical faculty who have directly supervised the student. Letters can be sent via email, fax or US mail. Transcripts are not required.

Students will be expected to have health and liability insurance through their university and will receive no medical, dental or liability benefits from VCU Health System.
