Spiritual Care

Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as a resource for patients, visitors, and members of the care team. Chaplains are part of the care team and focus on emotional, spiritual, and religious needs. We partner in aligning a patient’s care with their values, ask guided questions about values and faith, and discuss coping strategies. We support exploring religious and spiritual beliefs, encouraging storytelling, and partner to preserve a person’s dignity and respect.

Services we provide:

  • Grief and bereavement support
  • Strategies for adjusting to life limiting illness or injury
  • Advance Care Planning
  • Assisting with articulating cultural, religious, and spiritual values to providers and consideration for them in your care plan
  • Spiritual care plans
  • Spiritual and emotional support
  • Assistance in exploring coping strategies

Our team consists of professional chaplains and chaplain students. Our professional chaplains have specialized skills in offering emotional, spiritual, and religious care in the healthcare hospital setting. They respect all faith or non-religious preferences and partner with community faith leaders as needed.

Our Chapel

You can visit our chapel on the second floor of the Main Hospital or on the first floor of the Children’s Hospital. In the chapel, you will find a notebook to write prayer requests and electronic candles to light for loved ones in the hospital. We occasionally host worship and memorial services in the chapel.
