This year’s Shift For Health Spring Shindig includes a photo booth, a visit by Rodney the Ram and t-shirt giveaways in an effort to encourage VCU Health and the community to purposefully be more active. The event is March 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the second floor conference rooms at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, 1250 E. Marshall St. It is free and open to the public.

The Shift For Health initiative was designed to emphasize the idea of making small shifts in diet and lifestyle habits that add up to big differences in overall health and well-being, like taking the stairs as opposed to elevators. In previous years the event included a midday pop-up spin class and Fitbit giveaways. This year, attendees have the opportunity to win entries into local marathons and fun runs.

Community partners attending this year include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Arthritis Foundation, American Heart Association, Sportable, Alzheimer’s Association, Cap 2 Cap, Sports Backers and the American Cancer Association. For more information follow #Shift4Health on Twitter or email the event coordinator, Pauline Singleton, at pauline.singleton@vcuhealth.org.
