VCU Health opened a new clinic for cardiology and pulmonology patients in Richmond’s West End today. Health system leadership and employees cut the ribbon on the new VCU Health Reynolds Crossing clinic, located at 6605 West Broad Street.
The clinic expands the West End’s access to a wide variety of cardiovascular medicine specialists from VCU Health Pauley Heart Center as well as heart and lung rehabilitation services from Pauley and VCU Health Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine — both recognized by U.S. News & World Report for excellence. Up until now, these rehab services have only been available at VCU Medical Center in downtown Richmond.
"Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Virginia, but our mission-driven team at VCU Health is determined to counteract this fate by bringing life-saving care to the community,” said Marlon Levy, M.D., MBA, senior vice president for VCU Health Sciences and CEO of VCU Health System. “The education, exercises and rehab to come from this new clinic will surely support a heart healthier community and Virginia."
Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation are typically offered out of the same facility – commonly referred to as “cardiopulmonary rehab.” Cardiovascular rehabilitation is critical to patients who are living with heart failure, experienced a cardiovascular event or have undergone a cardiovascular procedure. Patients with different types of lung disease regularly use pulmonary rehabilitation services, including before and after a lung transplant. The new Reynolds Crossing rehab facility supports VCU Health’s outstanding heart transplant program and its new lung transplant program.
“Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality for about a third of the population on the planet. To address that we need to meet patients where they are,” said Greg Hundley, M.D., director of VCU Health Pauley Heart Center. “I think an exciting development for Reynolds Crossing is the co-location of our providers and diagnostic testing so we can see patients and take care of concerns, [and] couple that with cardiovascular rehabilitation. It’s an opportunity to bring all of that together under one roof to deliver the best care.”

This new facility features a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation gym with a six-minute walking track and exercise equipment, diagnostic testing, including pulmonary function testing, and an on-site lab. At the clinic, patients will also have access to pulmonary specialists who treat asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension.
“We’re excited to open this clinic for the benefit of our pulmonology patients and our lung transplant patients who live in the West End,” said Daniel Grinnan, M.D., interim chief of pulmonology and critical care medicine at VCU Health. “Richmond has long needed greater access to pulmonary rehab, and our team is both proud and excited to be able to deliver that to patients here, in partnership with the Pauley Heart Center. Whether it's managing chronic lung disease or supporting recovery after lung transplant, this center will provide continuity of care, compassion and clinical excellence.”
The new clinic will also house a variety of Pauley Heart Center cardiovascular medicine specialists, including providers in:
- Electrophysiology
- Heart failure
- Interventional cardiology
- Preventive cardiology
- Women’s heart health
“We are expanding our offerings into [patients’] neighborhoods at these sites so their care can be all-inclusive, whether it’s testing or seeing their providers," said Deborah Pora, DNP, senior director of operations for Pauley Heart Center.
Pauley Heart Center has been named the top-ranked heart hospital in Virginia for four consecutive years. The expansion of Pauley’s cardiopulmonary rehab services puts VCU Health among only a few hospital systems in the state with dual-site cardiopulmonary rehab programs.
Reynolds Crossing will welcome its first patients on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
