Students Collect Change for Children

Local schools raised over $32,000 for the Change for Children program during the 2016-2017 school year.

During the 2016-2017 school year, local schools raised over $32,000 for Children's Hospital Foundation (CHF) through the Change for Children Campaign. The CHF Senior Board manages Change for Children and recruited 50 local schools, making this year's fundraiser the largest yet.

Each school raised funds in their own unique way. Many children asked their communities for donations while some schools held larger school-wide fundraising events. Washington Henry Elementary School coordinates a school dance each May that benefits Change for Children while Bailey Bridge Middle organizes a 5k race. Greenfield Elementary collected change and brought in over 22,000 individual coins for their donation. All of these different fundraisers shared a common goal - to support Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU.

“With more than 60,000 children receiving services at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU each year, all of the schools in our community have students who have been helped by the hospital in some way,” said Stephanie Allan, Vice President for Community Development, Children’s Hospital Foundation. “It’s so wonderful to see kids get involved in these school fundraisers throughout the year to help their classmates and other children in their community.”
