Leaving a Legacy: Henry Pollard Cobb

placeholder image

In June, Children's Hospital Foundation (CHF) received a $1.2 million bequest from the estate of Henry Pollard Cobb of Mechanicsville, Va. Mr. Cobb was born on May 6, 1930 in Caroline County, Va. One of six children, Mr. Cobb was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of the University of Richmond.

“Pollard was a quiet and unassuming person to most people, and very few knew how smart and funny he was,” remembered Gwen Sklaroff, Pollard's first cousin once removed and last close surviving family member. “After his mother's death, my sisters and I always made sure Pollard was included at our family picnics and holiday gatherings. He enjoyed these events very much and would discuss politics and current events and have a few good laughs with us.”

An avid traveler, Mr. Cobb retired from Ethyl Corporation where he worked as a purchasing agent. A longtime supporter of CHF, Mr. Cobb passed away in December 2015 and named the Foundation as one of three residuary beneficiaries.
