Becker’s Hospital Review recognized Kristin King, chief human resources officer for VCU Health, as one of its 99 hospital and health system chief human resources officers (CHROs) to know for 2025. In her role as the CHRO for the health system, King is responsible for developing and executing workforce strategies that align with VCU Health’s business and strategic goals.

“Kristin’s recognition by Becker’s Hospital Review is a testament to the uncommon commitment she brings to ensure VCU Health remains a top-tier health system,” said Marlon Levy, M.D., senior vice president for VCU Health Sciences and CEO of VCU Health System. “Her work is absolutely crucial to our ability to provide care for our community, train the next generation of medical professionals and advance research.”

King has been in her role with VCU Health since September 2024. With more than 20 years of human resources leadership experience, she provides insight and recommendations for initiatives that support organizational culture and foster an accessible workplace for all health system employees.

Previously, as senior vice president and CHRO at Centra Health in Lynchburg, Virginia, King revamped talent acquisition strategies and transformed compensation structures to align with industry best practices. Before her time at Centra, King spent nearly two decades in human resources leadership at Carbondale-based Southern Illinois Healthcare. King has deep experience in corporate training, workforce development and process improvement.
