Annual Month of Giving campaign raises nearly $55,000

This March, 13 Richmond-area locations of Jersey Mike’s celebrated the national company’s “Month of Giving” by raising funds for Children’s Hospital Foundation (CHF). The stores collected donations from customers throughout the month, and then donated 100 percent of sales to CHF on the last Wednesday of the month, which the company calls its “Day of Giving”. This year, the seventh year that Jersey Mike’s has supported CHF, the fundraiser broke the previous record and resulted in a $54,907 donation.

“We are so grateful for the continued support we have from our local Jersey Mike’s Subs,” said Stephanie Allan, Vice President for Community Development, Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Our Foundation relies heavily on our community to continue providing much needed financial support for the people and programs at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Together, with the support of our local Jersey Mike’s Subs and many community members we are making a big difference in the lives of thousands of children in our Richmond area. This year’s gift is the biggest yet and we are excited for the opportunity to grow our partnership with Jersey Mike’s Subs through the Month of Giving Campaign in 2018.”

Jersey Mike’s fundraising efforts have been bolstered by another local business the last three years. BNW Builders, a remodeling company located nearby to the Staples Mill Road location of Jersey Mike’s, made a $1,000 donation to the Day of Giving campaign in 2015 to purchase $1,000 worth of sandwiches for customers that day. They repeated their donation in 2016 and increased it to $1,500 in 2017.

Thanks in part to the support by BNW Builders, the Staples Mill store has been the top fundraising location for three years. Since 2011, Jersey Mike’s has raised $218,885 for CHF.
