On Tuesday, April 21, the Virginia Commonwealth University and VCU Health community from around the world will come together to celebrate our fifth annual Giving Day by supporting students, patients, faculty and the communities we serve.
Donors can support the cause that matters most to them, from student resources and scholarships to comprehensive patient care, lifesaving research, faculty development and more. Special day-of matches and challenges help donors maximize their impact.
“We invite all alumni, faculty, staff, students, families and friends to join us in supporting VCU’s mission to expand access to higher education and build a healthier future for all,” VCU President Michael Rao said. “Donor support is vital to our mission to drive VCU and VCU Health forward to lift people’s lives.”
With more than 90 causes available to choose from, donors can make a major impact on the care of patients in their community as well as the students striving to go into health care fields. Some of those causes include:
- The Center for Human-Animal Interaction: A center conducting research on the impact of therapy dogs on patient health. It also operates the Dogs on Call program.
- VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Patient Assistance Fund: Financial support for cancer patients receiving treatment at Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- ALS Pathways to Possibility Trials Fund: The fund supports the infrastructure that provides access to clinical trials overseen by the Department of Neurology in the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine.
- VCU School of Public Health’s Scholarship Fund: A fund created to support students attending the newest school on the VCU Health Sciences campus.
- Ram Pantry: An on campus food bank initiative to support students facing food insecurity and hunger.
Giving Day takes place during VCU’s Philanthropy Week, from April 20-23.
