Symphony: It’s a term probably best known for its connection to music.
But at its simplest level, it’s a favorable composition of different elements. And in that context, it’s an appropriate way to think about the work taking place every day across our health system.
As Hospital Week is celebrated around the country with the American Hospital Association’s theme of “a symphony of compassionate care,” we can all take the opportunity to reflect and recognize the different elements that come together to create harmony here at VCU Health.

Every day, our doctors, nurses, social workers, technicians, administrative staff, support staff and chaplains work together to provide exceptional and comprehensive care. No matter what challenges might arise, there is always someone there to provide care for anyone who needs it from across the commonwealth and beyond.
"To all the amazing people who work at VCU Health and in America's hospitals and health systems — we say thank you," said Marlon Levy, M.D., MBA, senior vice president of VCU Health Sciences and CEO of VCU Health System. "We are deeply grateful for your dedication, expertise and compassion. We honor you for your service to others. Together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve and improve the health of our communities."
