The foot and ankle are complex anatomical structures that, because of their multiple joints, ligaments and muscles, have many afflictions that can disable them. The amount of stress that can go in the ankle and foot with a fast-paced walk is about four to five times the body weight — an indication of how much stress must be able to withstand and also how disorders in these structures can cause disability.
A board certified and fellowship trained orthopaedic specialist and podiatrist are trained in all aspects of foot and ankle care including arthritis, trauma, bunions, nerve injuries, sports and instability conditions, and diabetic foot conditions.
