Welcome to Radiology

The Department of Radiology at VCU Health is dedicated to providing our patients with the highest standard of care and innovative procedures.  Driven by our mantra “Image of Excellence”, the VCU Health’s Department of Radiology is at the forefront of academic radiology departments.  Day in and day out we strive to provide our patients with clinically superior diagnostic imaging and therapeutic interventional services with the utmost focus on patient safety.

Clinical Excellence Sets Us Apart

The Department of Radiology builds on its long-standing commitment to clinical excellence with the expertise of more than 40 subspecialty-trained faculty radiologists, many of whom are recognized nationally and internationally as leaders in their respective radiology subspecialties.

Our clinical excellence is enhanced further by the latest, state-of-the-art imaging equipment across all modalities including breast imaging, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Sonography, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.  In addition to the traditional diagnostic radiology services, the Department of Radiology offers many new and cutting edge, image-guided procedures including venous ablation, uterine fibroid embolization, radioimmunotherapy, virtual colonography, cardiac MRI, coronary artery CT, breast MRI and several highly specialized interventional oncology procedures used in the treatment of various liver and kidney diseases.

In addition, our clinical expertise extends to the care of our tiniest patients as well.  At the Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) and the VCU Medical Center, the Department of Pediatric Radiology is the most specialized in the region with dedicated pediatric imaging equipment (MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy) and a highly trained, pediatric-dedicated medical staff providing a full range of imaging services for infants and children of all ages including newborns and pregnant women.
