VCU Health celebrates National Hospital Week

To all of our VCU Health team members,

National Hospital Week, which takes place annually in May, is a time to celebrate the dedicated healthcare workers who make a difference in the lives of millions of people living in the United States of America. At VCU Health, we are proud to have the best and brightest healthcare professionals in the country, who are unwavering in their commitment to providing highest-quality care to our patients.

This year's theme from the American Hospital Association, "We are Healthcare," is a fitting tribute to the teamwork and collaboration that is at the heart of our work at VCU Health. Every day, our doctors, nurses, social workers, technicians, administrative staff, support staff and chaplains work together to provide exceptional and comprehensive care to each patient who enters any of our facilities in Richmond, South Hill and Tappahannock.

Our doctors and nurses are among the most skilled and compassionate in the country. They bring expertise, experience, and empathy to their work, making a difference in the lives of our patients every day. From diagnosing and treating illnesses to providing emotional support and guidance, our nurses and doctors are the backbone of our healthcare system.

Our administrative staff, including receptionists, schedulers and billing specialists, also play a critical role in ensuring that our hospital runs smoothly. They manage patient records, schedules, and finances, providing support and assistance to our doctors and nurses, so they can focus on what they do best - providing exceptional care to our patients.

We cannot forget the support staff, such as our janitors, food service workers and security personnel, who work behind the scenes to ensure VCU Health is a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our patients and their families. They are often the unsung heroes of our healthcare system, but their contributions are no less important.

And, of course, our volunteers are an essential part of our healthcare team, providing comfort and support to our patients and their families. They offer a listening ear, a helping hand, and a kind word, making a difference in the lives of those they serve.

As we celebrate National Hospital Week, we are reminded of the importance of healthcare in our communities. Our patients and their families rely on us every day to provide the care they need to lead healthy, happy lives. We are grateful to have a team of exceptional healthcare professionals who are committed to preserving and restoring the health of all Virginians.

To all the amazing people who work at VCU Health and in America's hospitals and health systems — we say thank you. We appreciate your dedication, expertise and compassion. We honor you for your service to others. Together, we are healthcare — and together, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

With admiration and gratitude,
