A native of Alabama, Dr. Shepard came to the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1994 to pursue a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology and joined the MCV Campus faculty in 1997 as assistant professor of internal medicine. He was promoted to Associate Professor of Medicine in 2005.
Dr. Shepard’s research interests include cardiac electrophysiology, arrhythmia, pacemakers, defibrillators and atrial fibrillation. He has been published in such highly respected medical journals as Circulation and Arteriosclerosis and Thrombosis, and he has been invited on several occasions to make presentations at national meetings of the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and NASPE.
