Dr. Caccavale is an assistant professor and licensed clinical psychologist in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. She received her PhD in clinical psychology, with a specialization in child psychology, from VCU. She completed her pre-doctoral internship training at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical health psychology in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and a research postdoctoral fellowship from the American Diabetes Association. She joined CHoR in 2021. As a health psychologist, Dr. Caccavale’s clinical and research work is focused on the development and implementation of evidenced-based treatments for health behavior change, health prevention, and health promotion in children, adolescents, and young adults. Additionally, Dr. Caccavale is involved in supervision of trainees as well as providing training in the use of motivational interviewing in clinical settings.

Dr. Caccavale is licensed by the Virginia Board of Psychology in clinical psychology. She is a member of the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the Society of Pediatric Psychology. Additionally, Dr. Caccavale also serves as peer-reviewer for journals.
