Biography

Dr. Patrick is an academic nephrologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, individualized kidney care. He specializes in a broad range of kidney diseases, with particular expertise in Onco-Nephrology, caring for patients with kidney complications related to cancer and cancer treatments. He works closely with the Division of Hematology and Oncology through a collaborative specialty clinic focused on delivering coordinated, patient-centered care.
 
Dr. Patrick believes that chronic kidney disease management is never “one-size-fits-all.” He takes a holistic and personalized approach to nephrology, tailoring treatment plans to each patient’s medical needs, lifestyle, dietary considerations, and long-term goals. He is passionate about helping patients understand their kidney disease and exploring treatment approaches that fit their individual needs. He values open communication and believes patients should feel informed, supported, and actively involved in their care.
 
His clinical interests include chronic kidney disease management, home dialysis therapies, Onco-Nephrology and advanced kidney disease education. He serves as Medical Director of the Home Dialysis Program, where he specializes in both home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, helping patients maintain independence and quality of life through personalized treatment approaches. He is also the Medical Director of an in-center dialysis unit and is passionate about improving pre-dialysis education for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease.
 
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Patrick is deeply involved in medical education and academic nephrology. He is actively engaged in the nephrology fellowship program and enjoys teaching medical students, internal medicine residents, and nephrology fellows.
 
Outside of medicine, Dr. Patrick is a singer-songwriter who enjoys recording music and performing live throughout the Richmond area.

My Care Provider is one of the finest Physicians who has attended to me. He is kind, caring, empathetic, and highly intelligent.
