Telehealth: Visit your doctor without leaving home
April 10, 2020
As the COVID-19 pandemic keeps us at home and six feet apart, you may find your doctor’s appointments being cancelled or postponed. To ensure you continue to receive the care you need during these difficult times, VCU Health is bringing the doctor to you through VCU Health Anywhere, the latest digital technology. If you are a current patient, you may qualify for telehealth services.
What is telehealth?
Telehealth refers to doctor’s appointments in which you and your doctor see and speak to each other from the convenience of your home or elsewhere using your smart phone, home computer or tablet with a front-facing camera. Since the uptick in coronavirus cases, VCU Health has seen upwards of 1,200 telehealth visits a day.
How do I sign up?
If you have a doctor’s visit already scheduled in one of the specialties below, a VCU Health staff member will contact you if they believe you could benefit from our telehealth services. You will receive an email once your appointment is set up. In this email, you will be asked to download our app, VCU Health Anywhere, to prepare for your appointment.
If you are a current patient in need of an appointment in one of these specialties, call your doctor’s office. If staff determine that a remote visit (telehealth) will meet your needs, they will email you instructions on how to download our app and prepare for your visit.
Your health and safety are important to us
Limiting your exposure to other people is an important means of protecting yourself from COVID-19. But skipping your doctor’s appointments for fear of exposure can be harmful. Please consider telehealth. As part of our commitment to help contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), VCU Health is currently waiving co-pays for scheduled virtual visits. However, you may still receive a bill from your provider for a copay or other additional amount.
