Biography
Joshua Gavin, DO, is board certified in Internal Medicine and obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed an Internal Medicine residency from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He also completed a Rheumatology fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Gavin is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology.

I DO feel empathy for the young doctors & nurses, who are having to provide medical care in this time/age; being allotted "20 min." to go through everything & then sending out these questionnaires to "judge/rate" them.

I have my chart and this was my first visit with Dr. Gavin. He didn't have all of my records and I signed a health release again to have them sent. Also we were waiting on lab reports to come back I had a chance to ask a lot of questions whereas with my former rheumatologist would never answer any of my questions or concerns. I feel as though Dr.Gavin is a very thorough doctor who explains everything, and he uses my chart. I am very happy with him. I look forward to long relationship with him concerning my health.I have already been bragging about my excellent care.

This provider is amazing, open to discussion with me as a client as a human being not just "another patient or number"he addresses my concerns for both health and medication and provides me with options to make the best informed decision for myself whenever possible. He is informative, respectful and shows care throughout the visit. Very importantly, he is open to the ever changing and evolving field of health and medicine with ethical consideration provided throughout. He comes across non judgmental nor dismissive and that appears to be more difficult to find in a provider these days. He's amazing and I have personally shared my experiences with others of similar health conditions and I highly recommended him for anyone facing Rheumatology concerns/issues.

This RA doctor is awesome. It's been a long time since I've had confidence in a doctor but he knocks it out of the park. It's relieving to have a doctor actually listen, discuss, be open minded, up to date on newer methods of treatment, and not dismiss you just bc you don't fit neatly into one single box. VCU (C.A.R.E. Center) has one kick butt Rheumatologist in their practice.
