The VCU Health Hume-Lee Transplant Center’s rich and innovative history began in 1957, when the Medical College of Virginia completed the first organ transplant in Virginia and shortly after created the nation's first Clinical Transplant Program. As we pioneered history in transplantation, we also set the foundation for our future as a leading transplant center.

Our mission of providing the best in patient care, research and education has allowed us to maintain our position as a leading authority in all aspects of solid organ transplantation.
