Medical Nutrition Therapy and Food and Nutrition Management Concentrations
For both the Spring Match and the Fall Match, this internship offers two concentrations: Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and Food and Nutrition Management. Regardless of concentration, all interns receive a strong experience in both MNT and Management areas. Interns partner with faculty in designing individualized experiences to pursue personal interests and learning needs.
Concentration specific requirements consist of:
- One or more specialty rotations (minimum two weeks) in a practice area related to the concentration.
- An in-depth paper and presentation on a topic related to the concentration area.
- Analysis of practical application for clinical topic or project assignment.
Dietetic interns in the MNT concentration complete Medicine, Nutrition Support, Advanced Clinical/Clinical Staff Experience rotations at VCU Medical Center. Interns in the Management concentration complete these specific rotations at nearby medical centers (i.e. Richmond Veteran's Affairs Medical Center or Henrico Doctors' Hospital). For either concentration, other rotations are completed at VCU Medical Center, or its numerous affiliations, based on intern preference, learning needs and availability. See Program Outline for more details on required and elected rotations.
Applicants should apply to one and only one concentration or track. You should apply to the concentration that best fits your interests and career goals.
