Walmart and Sam’s Club Reach $1 Billion Milestone

IMG_5175__750x504

Walmart and Sam’s Club recently crossed the $1 billion milestone in their fundraising efforts for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The amount represents the largest sum ever raised for a nonprofit by one company in North America according to Engage for Good, a trade group that tracks cause marketing activities for businesses and nonprofits.

Since Walmart and Sam’s Club began raising funds in 1987, more than $4.9 million has been collected locally for Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR). Funds have supported the neonatal intensive care unit, Healthy Lifestyles Center, Children’s Feeding Program, transitional care unit, and nephrology services among others.

From Aug. 27-Oct. 7, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates at more than 5,000 locations held in-store fundraising activities including collecting donations at registers. Nationally $36.5 million was raised including $190,719 for CHoR. All money raised directly benefits the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in that store or club’s community.
