Why we started a transplant blog

At Hume-Lee, we put our patients first. What does that mean? It means we approach transplant care with a level of compassion and empathy you won’t find at other centers. It also means we push to innovate – to rethink transplantation. That’s why we successfully transplant patients who have been turned down by not one, not two, but several other transplant centers. We also take a holistic approach to care and treat the entire person. Our team believes in second chances — for those who have nowhere else to turn, and others who may suffer from the disease of addiction.

We believe in a world of second chances. And our team works tirelessly to make as many life-changing transplants possible each year. 

We understand the transplant journey. Our team knows patients, their families, and entire communities can suddenly – perhaps overnight – be thrown into the complex, daunting and downright scary world of organ transplantation. It’s a patient journey unlike any other, full of ups and downs.

This blog is another way we’re supporting our patients. We believe in the power of storytelling, inspiration and transparent information about our often-complicated world. Our amazing clinical team will give you the information needed about your care. Here, you’ll find answers to common and not-so-common questions, inspiration, updates and the latest news told – perhaps for the first time – specifically for transplant patients and their families.

We have one editorial principle guiding the content you’ll find on our blog. News transplant patients and their families – whether at the beginning of their journey or years post transplant – will find beneficial.
