Institute for Innovative Nursing Practice
The Institute for Innovative Practice at VCU Medical Center has been created to provide nurses with the resources and opportunities to acquire and integrate evidence-based practice, cutting edge innovations and best nursing practices at the medical center.
VCU Medical Center is committed to the tradition of advancing excellence in practice and fostering a culture of life-long learning amongst its staff. As such, these learning programs are open to all staff free of charge, and to our community nurse colleagues for a nominal fee. We look forward to the participation of nurses and other interested health care professionals in enhancing and refining their expertise in practice.
We recognize and appreciate the experienced nurse who has worked hard to master the art and science of nursing practice. The Institute has been designed to support the continuing learning needs of the professional with each passing wave of new technology and research evidence.
Nationally recognized nursing experts will be invited throughout the year to present their knowledge through a Nursing Grand Rounds presentation. In an effort to develop critical inquiry in our staff, invited faculty will make walking rounds on patient care units to interact with our staff and discuss patient and family care issues, review policies, procedures and care guidelines, and to present opportunities to affect practice through evidence-based research. An advisory group of nursing leaders and staff will develop the agenda for the Institute based upon the learning needs of nurses in all areas of practice.
