2012-2021 Mandatory Flu Vaccination Policy

Our mission is to preserve and restore health for all people of Virginia and beyond through innovation in service, research and education. One way to ensure our environment is safe for all patients, visitors and VCU Health System team members is to ensure compliance with infection control guidelines and best practices for health care entities.

In 2015, VCU Health System implemented a mandatory flu vaccination policy for all team members.

This year’s flu vaccination program starts in October. All VCU Health team members who work, provide services, or receive training and/or education in Virginia Commonwealth Health System Authority, MCV Associated Physicians, Community Memorial Hospital, clinical and non-clinical, owned or occupied space are required to adhere to the mandatory flu vaccination policy. VCU Health System will make exemptions for medical and religious purposes. Non-employees must also comply with VCU Health System annual influenza vaccination.

Team members will need to receive their flu vaccination by November 30. Failure to do so will result in unpaid leave starting December 1 and voluntary resignation by December 15 if non-compliant.
