2019-2020 Mandatory Flu Vaccination Policy

Our mission is to preserve and restore health for all people of Virginia and beyond through innovation in service, research and education. One way to ensure our environment is safe for all patients, visitors and VCU Health team members is to ensure compliance with infection control guidelines and best practices for health care entities, which includes mandatory flu vaccinations.

We implemented a mandatory flu vaccination policy for all providers and team members in 2015.

This year, we will begin offering flu vaccinations to everyone who works, provides services or receives training and/or education in VCU Health System Authority, MCV associated physicians, Community Memorial Hospital clinical and non-clinical, owned or occupied spaces. We can grant exemptions for documented medical and religious reasons.

Team members must receive their flu vaccination prior to Dec. 1 to help protect those in our care. Team members who fail to do so will be placed on unpaid leave starting Dec. 1. Thereafter, team members who fail to come into compliance by Dec. 15 will be treated as having voluntarily resigned from their role as a VCU Health employee.
