Virginia Treatment Center for Children (VTCC) offers two inpatient evaluation services for the child/adolescents who does not meet criteria for acute care, but whose behavior requires a medically safe and secure environment in which to complete an assessment.

Standard Evaluation - This maximum 30-day assessment is designed to focus on several clinical issues and provide a trial of treatment. This service is ideal for the child who has a history of multiple hospitalizations without relief of symptoms, and the child who requires an extended period of observation to clarify complex diagnostic issues.

Brief Evaluation - This maximum 15-day service provides answers to a focused clinical question, usually for a chronic crisis, that cannot be answered during an acute admission.
