About The Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Clinic

     The Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Clinic is a division of the VTCC Anxiety Disorders Center.  Directed by Dr. Roxann Roberson-Nay, the Anxiety Disorders Center is a clinical research center committed to the study and treatment of anxiety disorders, phobias, and related disorders that often affect children and adolescents ages 5-17. The Anxiety Disorders Clinic specializes in providing cognitive-behavioral therapy in a warm, supportive environment. The clinic offers both assessment and outpatient treatment services for the following disorders:

  • Social Anxiety Disorder

  • Separation Anxiety Disorder

  • *Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Panic Disorder (and Agoraphobia)

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder

  • Phobias 

  • Trichotillomania

  • Tourette’s Disorder

  • Tic Disorders

*OCD is a debilitating disorder that often requires inpatient treatment. The Child and Adolescent Anxiety Center provides services on an outpatient basis only. If the case warrants inpatient care, referral recommendations will be provided.

     As part of its program the Anxiety Disorders Center also provides educational and consultation services for anxiety disorders in the greater Richmond area. The center maintains relations with several nationally recognized anxiety treatment research centers.

     The VTCC Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Clinic is located at 515 North 10th Street, on the corner of 10th and Leigh Streets.

More about the director: 

Dr. Roxann Roberson-Nay is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at VCUHS. Dr. Roberson-Nay’s broad clinical research interests are in the delineation of biological and psychosocial mechanisms that confer risk for development of childhood anxiety disorders and the developmental trajectory of anxiety-related disorders from childhood-adolescence into adulthood.
