On Sept. 15, 2009, Safe Kids Virginia partnered with AAA Foundation for Safety and Education and the Virginia Department of Health to provide a free child safety seat check in Fredericksburg, Va. Other partners included Safe Kids Southeastern Virginia, Fort Lee Police Department, Virginia State Police and Drive Smart Virginia. 
During the event, 21 child safety seats were inspected and only six arrived correctly installed.
