The Hume-Lee Transplant Program relies on all disciplines and departments within the hospital system. The administrative and laboratory support services are paramount to the successes of the transplant center.
Human Leukocyte Antigen Laboratory
The Human Leukocyte Antigen or "tissue typing" laboratory was opened in 1965 and was one of the first laboratories of its' kind in the world. The laboratory staff performs antigen typing (genetic markers) on the white blood cells. The testing is used to provide compatibility typing for all of our potential donors and recipients of solid organ transplants. The laboratory staff also performs antibody monitoring on patients while on the transplant list or as indicated by the transplant team. The laboratory is under the direction of Pamela Kimball, PhD .
Transplant Laboratory
The Hume-Lee Transplant Center has a laboratory dedicated to the patients under the care of the transplant team. The laboratory staff performs laboratory testing for immunosuppressant drug levels, stat laboratory tests, and a host of other laboratory tests.
Research Staff
The research staff at the Hume-Lee Transplant Center performs clinical testing and collect data to further transplant research. This interdisciplinary team is committed to advance the art and science of transplantation.
Administrative Support Staff
The administrative support staff offers all levels of commitment to the Hume-Lee Transplant Center . Their hard work and dedication to the success of transplant center is key to our program.
