The faculty and staff at the Hume-Lee Transplant Center make up a multidisciplinary team that collaborates to provide our patients the highest quality of care both before and after transplantation.

  • Pre-transplant coordinators who are solely committed to helping patients move through the evaluation process with the interdisciplinary team
  • Post-transplant coordinators who work closely with the interdisciplinary team during post-transplant to ensure optimum patient quality outcomes and help facilitate patient questions and needs
  • Dedicated ambulatory and inpatient social workers who work with each patient to enhance and maximize quality of life and outcomes
  • Pancreatic islet cell coordinator who works closely with patients being evaluated for islet cell transplant following kidney transplant

Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center

The Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center is one of four VA liver transplant centers in the U.S. The team evaluates and coordinates the care of patients with end-stage liver disease. The liver transplant surgery is performed at the Hume-Lee Transplant Center.

  • Transplant financial coordinators who work to ensure that each patient understands the financial component and responsibilities and seek to optimize their benefits and resources
  • Discharge transplant coordinator who works closely with the patient and the interdisciplinary team to prepare the patient and support system to transition to home after transplant
  • Transplant pharmacists
  • Outreach coordinator who facilitates education and treatment options within our community and state for patients and referral sources
