Workshop on December 3 – 4, 2009 at the Alumni House on the MCV
Campus of the VCU Health System. Click on the link above for you to

Description: As critical care nurses, we work with
many patients who will eventually lose their life, even with
improving technology. Historically, nursing curriculums have been
woefully inadequate at providing education related to caring for the
dying. This two-day workshop will discuss end-of-life care issues
relating to critical care patients. Topics will cover: Palliative
Care in Critical Care Nursing; Ethical and Legal Issues;
Communication; Pain Management/Symptom Management; Care at the Time
of Death; and Grief and Bereavement
This course is based on the Critical Care End-of-Life Nursing
Education Consortium (ELNEC) training model, previously supported by
a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to the American
Association of Colleges of Nursing and City of Hope National Medical
Center.
Location: The VCU Health System’s MCV Alumni House.
