Post Anesthesia Care

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit is a short-term critical care unit that consists of 24 acute care beds. The PACU nurse provides critical care to all patient populations following a surgical, diagnostic or therapeutic procedure for which an anesthetic agent was required. Additional staffing entities include health care partners, unit secretaries and senior nursing students.

The PACU staff members take pride in their collaborative relationships with other disciplines to ensure optimal patient care outcomes. Flexible self-scheduling is an asset in the unit because it provides consistency in accommodating staff lifestyles in addition to assuring adequate coverage for 16,000 cases per year.
