Medicine Telemetry Intermediate Care

This is a 28-bed unit including the capacity for 9 telemetry monitored beds and 18 intermediate care beds. The patient populations for this unit have a medical diagnosis with an underlying cardiac component that requires cardiac monitoring. The patients are all monitored both centrally by telemetry and at the bedside.

  • The diagnoses treated include

  • renal failure

  • hepatic failure

  • pneumonia

  • asthma

  • sickle cell crisis

  • pancreatitis

  • coronary artery disease

  • congestive heart failure

  • cardiac arrhythmia

  • delirium tremens

  • substance abuse

  • tuberculosis

  • GI bleed

  • diabetes

  • AIDS

  • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

  • fetal demise

  • cystic fibrosis.

The patient population ranges in age from young adult to geriatric.
