Mission In pursuit of excellence in patient care, the Department of Education & Professional Development is committed to maximizing the knowledge, skills and abilities of the workforce. We support professional development through collaborative learning experiences to advance the vision, mission and values of Nursing and Patient Care Services at the VCU Medical Center. Programs and services The Education & Professional Development Department provides a broad spectrum of clinical education, professional development and other patient care support programs for Nursing and Patient Care Services. The department provides opportunities for healthcare professionals to acquire new knowledge and skills, maintain necessary skills and learn new techniques and principles, to facilitate high quality, evidenced based patient care and excellent customer service. Classes are open to all staff of the VCU Medical Center if they find them relevant to their position.
