Progressive Care Medicine Unit

This is a 28-bed unit including the capacity for 18 intermediate care beds. The patient populations for this unit have a medical diagnosis with an underlying cardiac component that requires cardiac monitoring. The patients are all monitored both centrally by telemetry and at the bedside.
The primary admission diagnoses include but are not limited to

Renal failure
Cirrhosis
Pneumonia
Asthma exacerbation
Sickle cell crisis
Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Sepsis
Heart failure
Cystic Fibrosis Exacerbation
Alcohol Withdrawal
Rule out tuberculosis
GI bleed
HIV/ AIDS

The patient population ranges in age from young adult to geriatric.
