Coronary Medical ICU

The Coronary and Coronary Medical Intensive Care Units are a combined 14-bed adult intensive care area of the Heart Center. Patients with acute coronary syndromes such as myocardial infarction and unstable angina are cared for in this area. In addition, we care for patients with congestive heart failure and pulmonary edema, those experiencing severe cardiac dysrhythmias, and after interventional procedures. Specialty procedures include inserting and managing temporary pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pumps and pulmonary artery catheters. Registered nurses provide care. Members of the nursing staff also respond to in-house emergencies.
