Conference: 6th Annual Advanced Respiratory Care Conference
The VCU Health System is pleased to announce the 6th Annual
Advanced Respiratory Care Conference scheduled for September
19, 2012! So mark your calendar and plan to attend this
innovative regional conference.
Description: This Conference is aimed at Respiratory
Care Practitioners, Critical Care Registered Nurses, Emergency
Department Registered Nurses and others involved in the complex
management of pulmonary issues in critically ill patients. This
conference is meant to educate and encourage the collaboration of
health care professionals in the complex management of critically
ill patients with advanced respiratory care needs. This event will
carry continuing education credits.

Description: This is a premier conference, co-provided
by the Greater Richmond Area Chapter of AACN and the VCU
Health System, for healthcare staff working with acute and
critical-care patients. This represents an excellent opportunity for
you to hear from nationally-known nurse experts, meet and interact
with your peers, and exchange information that could enhance your
practice.
This year's Conference will feature AACN President
Mary Stahl, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, CCNS-CMC, CCRN, of Saint
Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She will give her keynote
presentation "Together, Bolder, Stronger."
The conference will also feature Melissa Fitzpatrick, MSN, RN, FAAN,
past AACN president, and currently Vice President and Chief Clinical
Officer of Hill-Rom, along with Kathleen Vollman, MSN, RN, CCNS,
FCCM, FAAN of Advanced Nursing, LLC.

Conference: Steppingstones to Excellence in Wound Care
This is to announce that the 2012 Steppingstones to Excellence in
Wound Care Conference will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at the
Greater Richmond Convention Center. A brochure for the Conference
will be published in late Spring 2012.
Twenty-five years of extraordinary advances in both acute and
chronic wound management have redefined what constitutes “basic
knowledge” in the wound management arena. As a result of these
changes, it is now possible for healthcare providers at multiple
levels to increase their scope-of-practice.
This conference is specifically designed to provide clinical
nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapist, and other members

Conference is Virginia's largest annual cardiac and cardiothoracic
nursing and allied health conference. Now in its 13th year, this
Conference was developed in 1999 as part of the commitment of the
VCU Health System's Pauley Heart Center to advancing the knowledge
of nurses and allied health professionals in both the inpatient
and outpatient settings, and in the community. Recent concepts and
advancements in the care of patients with cardiovascular disease
