More than a hundred physicians from the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center have been recognized in Richmond Magazine’s 2011 Top Docs survey, which asked local physicians whom they would recommend in a range of specialties from 53 categories.



In Richmond Magazine’s April issue, which featured a “heroes” theme, 110 full-time VCU Medical Center physicians appeared on the list, seven of them appearing in more than one category.
The magazine sent letters to more than 3,700 doctors, who were alerted to an online survey. From a list of licensed practitioners obtained from the Department of Health Professions, 530 responded, for a return rate of approximately 14 percent.
In addition, three VCU Medical Center standouts were individually recognized. Christopher Kogut, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry, also serves the Richmond community by volunteering at the Fan Free Clinic; Richard Hubbard, a second-year medical student in the VCU School of Medicine, has dedicated part of his life to helping the impoverished in Bangladesh; and Barton Bobb, FNP, ACHPN, of the VCU Massey Cancer Center, was recognized as this year’s top nurse practitioner.



Richmond Magazine has conducted similar surveys in 1988, 1998, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010.
