The Department of Neurology provides comprehensive consultation, evaluation and management of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous and neuromuscular systems for adults and children. The department has four divisions: adult, child, neuro-ophthalmology, and neurophysiology.
The Division of Adult Neurology offers clinical services for epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, neuromuscular disorders, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Stroke Unit both offer comprehensive treatment programs for acute and chronic conditions and specializes in difficult cases and referrals.
The Division of Child Neurology provides comprehensive services with special interest in neonatal neurologic dysfunctions, birth defects, seizure disorders, learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders.
The Division of Neuro-Ophthalmology provides consultation and referral care for patients with disorders of vision related to the nervous system. This includes conditions of the optic nerve and visual pathways, papilledema, visual field defects, diplopia, ocular motor disturbances, papillary abnormalities, transient visual loss and related pain. Special services include automated perimetry for visual fields, anomaloscope quadrant test of color vision, visual evoked potentials, electroretinograms, electro-oculography, ocular motor and vestibular function studies.
The Division of Neurophysiology offers services in electromyography, electroencephalography, evoked potentials, ocular motility, polysomnography and long-term electroencephalography and video recording. Additional intra-operative monitoring services are also available.
