ROV: Reality of Violence
Under the leadership of the VCU Medical Center Injury and Violence Prevention Program, a collaborative effort involving multiple departments (ED, STICU, NSICU, M9C, Rehab Unit) as well as various community agencies including the Office of the Attorney General, Richmond Public Schools, and Richmond Juvenile Court System, is being carried out to provide an effective and sustainable community violence prevention program.
This program includes a nine week middle school curriculum aimed at high risk youth within identified areas in Richmond City. Participants will be taken through a real picture of the consequences of violence through the eyes of law enforcement, EMS providers, and the hospital staff.
Through hospital film footage, as well as the experiences of our staff and students, participants are shown there is no glory in violence.
