Evelyne Goudreau, MD

Originally from Canada, Dr. Goudreau did her initial collegial studies at the College Bois-de-Boulogne in Montreal before receiving her B.Sc. in biology (physiology) from the University of Montreal’s McGill in 1977. She continued on at Montreal to complete her M.D. in 1981. After finishing her internship and residency in internal medicine and a cardiology fellowship from the University of Montreal, Dr. Goudreau came to the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University for a fellowship in interventional cardiology. She joined the faculty in 1988 as assistant professor and achieved the rank of associate professor in 1996. Dr. Goudreau is a full-time attending in the Pauley Heart Center Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and a part-time attending in the Coronary Care Unit.

Dr. Goudreau’s research interests include acute coronary care and diagnostic cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology. She has been involved with more than 50 externally funded research projects, either as principal or co-investigator, and has authored or co-authored more than 40 papers and a full-length book on interventional cardiology. In addition to serving as NIH-sponsored program reviewer, she has served as manuscript reviewer for Catheterization and Cardiovascular Diagnosis, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and the American Journal of Cardiology. Dr. Goudreau has made 28 presentations at major national meetings, where she also has been invited to serve as panel member, moderator and abstract grader a number of times as well as a session co-chair for two American College of Cardiology national meetings.

Dr. Goudreau is a fellow of the American Heart Association’s Council on Clinical Cardiology, the Society for Cardiac Angioplasty and Interventions, the American College of Cardiology and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She was selected as Honored Member of Strathmore’s Who’s Who among Outstanding Individuals for 2000-2001. Since 1996, Dr. Goudreau has traveled to Moldova, the Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania and Russia for on-site training and clinical seminars through the international health program.
