The Surgery Trauma ICU (STICU) is a state of the art
twenty-eight bed unit. All of the patient rooms are private
with windows to the outside. Four of the rooms provide 360
degree access to patients with overhead arms. The unit has its
own satellite pharmacy with 24/7 service, providing rapid
medication delivery to the patient's bedside. There is a
private, consult room for family conferences with internet
access, along with a large open waiting room space.
The STICU is part of a Level One Trauma Center verified by the
American College of Surgeons. We provide comprehensive,
innovative care to a diverse population of severely injured
and critically ill surgical patients. The primary services
include: Surgical Trauma, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery,
Transplant Surgery and Surgical Oncology. The complexity of
our patients include Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT),
complex modes of ventilation, massive transfusion protocol,
extensive wound care and post anesthesia care.
A multidisciplinary team including nursing, a clinical nurse
specialist, clinical pharmacist, dietician, respiratory
therapist, family centered care liaison, chaplain, nurse
practitioners, social workers, Critical Care Fellowship,
surgical residents and, attending physicians and others
provide care collaboratively.
