In 2011, CVCCD added a new pharmacy program to provide access to low cost factor to patients and support for clinical services and patient programs.

Pharmacy services include

• Seamlessly integrates pharmacy services with the Hemophilia Treatment Center’s clinical, educational and research services

• Home delivery of the full range of factor products and assays

• Access to lowest product costs through participation in the federal 340B pharmacy program

• Re-investment of program income back into Hemophilia Center to self-sustain direct patient services and programs

About the 340b program

As a Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Center, CVCCD is eligible to participate in the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program.

The 340B Drug Pricing Program resulted from the enactment of Public Law 102-585, the Veterans Health Care Act of 1992, which is codified as Section 340B of the Public Health Service Act. The 340B Drug Discount Program is managed by the Health Resources and Services Administration Office of Pharmacy Affairs. Section 340B limits the cost of covered outpatient drugs to certain federal grantees, federally-qualified health center look-alikes and qualified disproportionate share hospitals. Participation in the program results in significant savings estimated to be 20 to 50 percent on the cost of pharmaceuticals for safety-net providers. The purpose of the 340B program is to enable these entities to stretch scarce federal resources, reaching more eligible patients and providing more comprehensive services.
