Disorders at the Virginia Commonwealth University
Health System is dedicated to working with
patients and families in providing state-of-the-art,
comprehensive health care for persons with
coagulation disorders. Administering care
and knowledge to patients and their families
are the most important objectives of the
CVCCD health care team.
Mission Statement
CVCCD provides state-of-the-art, comprehensive care for patients with inherited bleeding and clotting disorders and their families.
The goals of the CVCCD are:
- To provide multidisciplinary care that is culturally-competent and family-centered care and is coordinated between other subspecialties and primary care providers.
- To provide patient education, empowering patients and their families to make informed decisions about their health care.
- To stimulate, promote and conduct clinical research affecting persons with bleeding disorders to improve patient outcomes and therapies.
- To advocate for patients and families in collaboration with community organizations through education and policy development.
- To provide outreach to patients, limiting barriers to care. This includes insurance case management to reduce the financial burdens to families.
- To promote and provide, through varied modalities, education about bleeding disorders to other health care providers.
- To advance the education and expertise of the team through ongoing staff development.
